
NEW YORK, April 29 (UPI) -- Evgeni Malkin had two goals and an assist Tuesday, powering Pittsburgh to a 5-3 win over the New York Rangers and a 3-0 edge in their Eastern semifinal.
Marian Hossa added a goal and an assist for the Penguins, who are one win away from advancing to the conference finals for the first time since 2001.
Georges Laraque and Ryan Malone also scored goals. Sidney Crosby, Petr Sykora and Sergei Gonchar each had two assists for Pittsburgh.
Marc-Andre Fleury recorded his seventh win of the post-season with 36 saves.
Jaromir Jagr and Martin Straka had one goal and one assist each for the Rangers, who face elimination in Game 4 scheduled for Thursday. Ryan Callahan added a goal. Henrik Lundqvist gave up five goals on only 17 shots.
