BRIDGEVIEW, Ill., April 27 (UPI) -- John Thorrington scored two goals Saturday to lead the Chicago Fire to a 2-1 MLS victory over the Colorado Rapids.

Thorrington got his first goal in the 53rd minute when he fired a Tomasz Frankowski rebound past Rapids' goalkeeper Bouna Coundoul. He scored again six minutes later.

Tom McManus got Colorado's only goal when he drove a Christian Gomez corner kick into the back of the net.

The Rapids have lost two straight after starting the season 2-1-0, while Chicago improves to 3-1-1, good for second in the East, two points behind Columbus.
