
WASHINGTON, April 27 (UPI) -- John Lannan and two relievers combined on a four-hit shutout Sunday and Washington beat the Chicago Cubs 2-0.
Lannan (2-2) yielded four hits in seven innings with four walks and three strikeouts. He threw 107 pitches, 65 for strikes, and has not given up a run in his last 19 innings dating back to April 17 against the New York Mets.
Luis Ayala walked a batter and struck out two in the eighth and Rauch pitched a perfect ninth to record his fourth save this season.
Both Washington runs scored in the bottom of the second on singles by Wily Mo Pena and Wil Nieves off losing pitcher Ted Lilly (1-4).
Lilly gave up the two earned runs on four hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out seven.
The Cubs lost two of three in the weekend series at the new Nationals Park.
