
KANSAS CITY, Mo., April 27 (UPI) -- Scott Rolen drove in two runs Sunday, helping the Toronto Blue Jays defeat the Kansas City Royals 5-2.
The veteran third baseman, who missed the season's first 23 games with a finger injury, hit a solo homer in the top of the first and an RBI single in the fifth.
The insurance runs scored on Tony Pena's two-run throwing error in the ninth.
Alex Rios had four hits and scored three times. Aaron Hill added two hits for the Blue Jays, who snapped a six-game losing streak by banging out 12 hits in all.
Winner Jesse Litsch (3-1) surrendered two runs -- one earned -- and five hits in seven innings.
Reliever Jesse Carlson worked a scoreless ninth to record his first major league save.
David DeJesus led Kansas City with a two-run single in the third.
Ross Gload and Alberto Callaspo had two hits each for the Royals, who have lost eight of 10.
The losing pitcher was starter Gil Meche (1-4).
