GREEN BAY, Wis., April 25 (UPI) -- Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre was officially placed on the NFL's retired list Friday.

Favre, 38, announced his retirement March 6, but there had been speculation in recent weeks that because NFL paperwork on his retirement had not been filed he might be considering playing another season.

The Packers have announced Favre's No. 4 jersey will be retired.

Favre holds the league's all-time records for passing yards, touchdowns, consecutive games started and most wins by a starting quarterback.
