MONTE CARLO, Monaco, April 24 (UPI) -- World No. 1 Roger Federer and five of the other top six seeds had straight-set third-round wins Thursday at the $3.57 million Master Series Monte Carlo.

Only fourth-seeded Nikolay Davydenko among the top seeds was pushed to a third set and only seventh-seeded Richard Gasquet, who lost 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 to Sam Querrey, was an upset victim Thursday.

Federer was solid in a 6-3, 6-4 win over Gael Monfils and moves into Friday's quarterfinals against sixth-seeded David Nalbandian, who beat Tommy Robredo, 6-1, 6-0, in his third-round match.

Second-seeded Rafael Nadal, a three-time defending champion at Monte Carlo, swept by Juan Carlos Ferrero, 6-4, 6-1. Fifth-seeded David Ferrer, who topped Janko Tipsarevic, 6-4, 6-0, is the next draw for Nadal.

No. 3 Novak Djokovic blitzed Andy Murray, 6-0, 6-4, and heads into a Friday match against Querrey.
