Goodell determined in September that the Patriots violated league rules by videotaping opposing coaches' defensive signals during Patriots games throughout the tenure of Coach Bill Belichick.

The coach admitted taping practice on a regular basis, saying that he misinterpreted the rule.

Walsh, who taped opposing coaches, has been required to return any tapes and other items in his possession that belong to the team.

"Today, Mr. Walsh and the National Football League reached an agreement under which the NFL will provide legal indemnification and a release of claims against Mr. Walsh relating to his employment by the Patriots and the Patriots' videotaping operations," said Michael N. Levy, Walsh's Washington, D.C.-based attorney. "Mr. Walsh is looking forward to telling the NFL what he knows."
