CHESTNUT HILL, Mass., April 23 (UPI) -- Junior Boston College defensive end Brady Smith Wednesday was permanently dismissed from the team following a felony rape charge.
The Boston Globe reported that the 6-foot-2-inch, 285-pounder from Finksburg, Md., was held on a $50,000 cash bail after his arraignment Wednesday in Brighton, Mass., Municipal Court for allegedly breaking into a campus apartment and the alleged rape of an unnamed female student.
The incident allegedly occurred at 4 a.m. on Tuesday morning after the woman spurned Smith's advances at a nightclub, the Globe reported.
"There was some premeditation involved," Megan O'Rourke, assistant Suffolk County district attorney, told Judge Patricia Bernstein.
The alleged victim told campus police what happened in a written report.
Smith's dismissal was announced by Coach Jeff Jagodzinski on the school's Web site, which said no other comment would be made at this time.
Last season, Smith made 29 tackles for the Eagles' defense while starting 12 games
