SANTA ANA, Calif., April 22 (UPI) -- Pasha Grishuk, an Olympic ice dancing gold medalist, was slipped a date-rape drug during a meeting at a California hotel, investigators said Tuesday.
Toxicology tests confirmed that GHB was in drinks Grishuk consumed at the St. Regis Monarch Beach, KTLA-TV reported.
Grishuk spotted a partly dissolved pill in her glass after she began feeling sick April 12, the Orange County Sheriff's Office said. Investigators determined that another drink had been spiked as well, finding the remains of a dissolved pill.
Jim Amormino, a spokesman for the sheriff's office, said investigators are trying to determine the motive for giving Grishuk the drug. Police did not mention suspects at the business meeting who might have used the drug.
Grishuk now lives in Los Angeles. She won gold medals in the 1994 and 1998 Winter Olympics as a member of the Ukrainian team.
