
HOUSTON, April 22 (UPI) -- Miguel Tejada had four hits, two RBI and two runs Tuesday, helping the Houston Astros to an 11-7 victory over the San Diego Padres.
Brandon Backe allowed three runs on four hits over seven innings for Houston. Doug Brocail gave up four runs in one-third of an inning. Jose Valverde (3-1) pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings to earn the win.
Lance Berkman went 2-for-2 with a pair of walks and two RBI for Houston, which has three straight wins. Kazuo Matsui was 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI, and Geoff Blum and Hunter Pence each homered in the win.
Jake Peavy yielded four runs on seven hits in six innings for San Diego, which has lost six of its last seven games. Heath Bell (0-2) allowed four runs on four hits in the eighth inning to take the loss.
Adrian Gonzalez was 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Paul McAnulty had two hits and drove in two runs.
