Rookie Tseng out front in LPGA tourney

ORLANDO, Fla., April 18 (UPI) -- Yani Tseng made nine birdies Friday en route to a course record 8-under 64 and a two-shot advantage at the Ginn Open at Orlando, Fla.

Tseng, a rookie on the LPGA Tour from Taiwan, broke the Ginn Reunion Resort course record of 65, set by Cristie Kerr in 2006. She moved to 12-under 132 for 36 holes.

Suzann Pettersen was in second place at 134 after shooting a 66 and Lorena Ochoa shared third with Minea Blomqvist at 135.

Ochoa, who is trying for her fourth straight tour victory, opened her round of 67 with eight straight pars.

"On the front, it was a little bit slower," Ochoa said. "I keep missing my birdie putts, but I thought, 'just be patient.'"

Tseng, 19, birdied five of the first six holes. Her best finish to date on the LPGA circuit has been a second at last month's MasterCard Classic.
