Three people hurt before Memphis NBA game

MEMPHIS, April 13 (UPI) -- Three people were hurt Saturday night prior to the Grizzlies-Minnesota NBA game at the FedExForum in Memphis.

In a report Sunday, The (Memphis) Commercial Appeal quoted witnesses saying at least a dozen people were leaning on a rail overlooking a tunnel leading to the facility's locker rooms requesting autographs from Memphis player Hakim Warrick and Juan Carlos Navarro when it collapsed.

One of the injured was taken away on a stretcher. That victim fell face first on top of the rail.

FedEx Forum officials said no one was seriously injured and the section immediately was roped off.

"It's the same setup we've always had," Steve Zito, senior vice president of FedExForum operations, told the newspaper. "We do a check before we open the doors. So this has surprised us. We're going to find out what happened and make sure it never happens again."

It was the Grizzlies' last home game this season.
