Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

AMELIA ISLAND, Fla., April 13 (UPI) -- Top-seeded Maria Sharapova beat Dominika Cibulkova Sunday to win the Bausch & Lomb Championship at Amelia Island, Fla., her third title of the 2008 season.
Sharapova won 7-6 (9-7), 6-3 and collected $95,500. It was her 19th title on the women's tour, but first on a clay court.
"You obviously never know how you're going to feel and how things are going to turn out, so I feel pretty fortunate to win my first title on clay," Sharapova said.
Cibulkova, 18, played in the first final of her career.
