ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., April 13 (UPI) -- B.J. Upton slammed a three-run home run for Tampa Bay in a 6-2 win Sunday over the Baltimore Orioles.
Upton's shot capped a six-run Tampa Bay fifth inning, which also included a two-run single by Carl Crawford.
Jeff Nieman (1-0), pitching his first major league game, was the winner,allowing one run on six hits.
Nick Markakis homered for the Orioles.
Brian Burres (1-1) took the loss, giving up all of the Rays' runs.
