Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

LOS ANGELES, April 11 (UPI) -- Luke Walton scored 18 points Thursday and the Los Angeles Lakers ran away in the fourth period to defeat the Los Angeles Clippers 106-78.
The Lakers moved a full game in front of Phoenix for the top spot in the Pacific Division.
After three periods, the Lakers had fought their way to an 11-point lead and they then turned it into a rout by allowing the Clippers just 17 points in the final quarter.
Lakers star Kobe Bryant was able to rest in the fourth period and finished with a relatively quiet 16 points. Lamar Odom had 14 for the Lakers and Pau Gasol had 13.
The Clippers were led by Elton Brand with 23.
Walton hit seven of 11 shots and helped the Lakers to a 50-percent shooting performance.
