MLB: Pittsburgh 1, Cincinnati 0

PITTSBURGH, April 11 (UPI) -- Paul Maholm and three relievers combined to throw a seven-hit shutout Friday in the Pittsburgh Pirates' rain-soaked 1-0 win over Cincinnati.

The game was delayed after the fifth inning for one hour, 22 minutes, and when the action resumed, Jason Bay hit his second homer of the season.

John Grabow (1-0) earned the victory in relief, giving up a hit in a 1 1/3 innings. Matt Capps worked the ninth for the save, helping the Pirates snap a three-game losing streak.

Cincinnati, which had won its previous two games, was shut out for the first time this season.

The loss went to Jared Burton (0-1). Starter Edinson Volquez gave up three hits over five innings before the rains came.
