NEW YORK, April 11 (UPI) -- Nelson Figueroa won his first game as a starter in more than four years Friday, producing a six-inning outing to carry the New York Mets past Milwaukee 4-2.
Figueroa (1-0) allowed two runs on two hits and struck out six, helping the Mets win their third straight. He last started and won a game in August 2003, with that one also coming against the Brewers.
New York did not manage an extra-base hit, but the Mets put together four of their eight singles along with a walk and a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning for three runs.
Milwaukee lost its third straight.
The setback went to Manny Parra (1-1), who gave up three runs on six hits in four innings.
Figueroa did not allow a base runner until the fifth.
