FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., April 11 (UPI) -- Miami Dolphins fullback Reagan Mauia was charged with battery early Friday after an altercation outside a restaurant in Weston, Fla., authorities said.
The Florida South-Sentinel reported Mauia is alleged to have knocked one of the restaurant's customers unconscious outside the Carolina Ale House parking lot before fleeing.
The charge was filed by deputies in the Broward County sheriff's office.
The former sixth-round draft pick faces a first-degree misdemeanor charge. He was released on bond.
The newspaper noted this is the third incident this off-season involving a Dolphins player. In February, defensive end Matt Roth was arrested in Iowa for allegedly being intoxicated in public. In January, linebacker Channing Crowder's truck was found smashed into a tree and abandoned on the Florida Turnpike.
The team has not commented but Mauia could be on shaky ground because former Kansas City Chiefs fullback Boomer Grigsby already has signed this off-season to compete with him in training camp.
