NEW YORK, April 7 (UPI) -- New York auction house Sotheby's says a uniform worn by Yankees legend Joe DiMaggio during his 1936 rookie season will be among items auctioned this month. The auction house said other items of sports memorabilia set for auction April 24 include bats used by famed sluggers Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Rogers Hornsby, "Shoeless" Joe Jackson, Mickey Mantle and Jimmie Foxx, the New York Post reported Monday.

DiMaggio's No. 9 jersey, worn before he later switched to his iconic No. 5, is expected to sell for up to $350,000, the auctioneer said.
Jackson's "Black Betsy" game bat, used during the infamous 1919 World Series, is expected to fetch up to $300,000. Jackson and seven other members of the Chicago White Sox were banned from Major League Baseball after they conspired to throw the series.
"No other player in sports history ever had a piece of equipment with its own identity the magnitude of Joe Jackson's bat," a Sotheby's spokesman said of the item.
Other notable items in the auction include a 1933 road jersey worn by Lou Gehrig and Yankee Darryl Strawberry's 1998 championship ring.
