DENVER, April 6 (UPI) -- Wojtek Wolski's shootout goal was the game-winner for the Colorado Avalanche in a 4-3 victory over Minnesota Sunday, ending the regular season.

Wolski beat Minnesota goalie Josh Harding on a forehand shot in the first-round of the shootout, during which Colorado's Jose Theodore blocked shots by Petteri Nummelin and Pierre-Marc Bouchard.

Joe Sakic scored a goal and assist to help the Avalanche clinch the No. 6 seed in the Western Conference. Colorado and third-seeded Minnesota will meet in the opening round of the playoffs.

Paul Stastny and Milan Hejduk also scored for Colorado and Peter Forsberg registered three assists.

Minnesota, which won the Northwest Division, got goals from Mark Parrish, Keith Carney and Brian Rolston.
