NEW YORK, April 6 (UPI) -- Chien-Ming Wang and two relievers combined on a four-hit shutout Sunday, helping the New York Yankees beat Tampa Bay 2-0.

Hideki Matsui's second home run this season produced the game's only runs.

Wang (2-0) limited the Rays to four hits and two walks in six innings with six strikeouts.

Joba Chamberlain retired the six batters he faced in the seventh and eighth innings, and closer Mariano Rivera pitched the ninth for his third save, striking out two of three batters.

Matsui's homer, a drive over the right field wall, followed Alex Rodriguez's double with one out in the fourth inning.

Losing pitcher James Shields (1-1) yielded two earned runs and eight hits in five innings with a walk and five strikeouts.

Tampa Bay failed in its attempt to begin a season with four wins in five games.

The series concludes Monday afternoon.
