MLS: D.C. United 4, Toronto FC 1

WASHINGTON, April 5 (UPI) -- Luciano Emilio and Santino Quaranta scored in the first five minutes Saturday and D.C. United won 4-1 over Toronto FC in its MLS home opener.

Emilio, who led the MLS with 20 goals last season, scored just 1:02 into the match and Quaranta doubled the lead in the fifth minute.

Argentine Marcelo Gallardo, an attacking midfielder D.C. added as a designated player in the off-season, added his first MLS goal in the 52nd minute and Jaime Moreno increased his MLS record with career goal 113 in the 78th.

United (1-1-0) lost its season opener to Kansas City, 2-0.

Toronto FC (0-2-0) got its first goal when Maurice Edu scored in the 88th minute.
