MLB: Texas 11, LA Angels 6

ANAHEIM, Calif., April 5 (UPI) -- A grand slam homer by Ben Broussard in the fourth Friday sparked Texas to a big lead and the Rangers held on to down the Los Angeles Angels 11-6.

Texas had an 11-0 lead going into the ninth inning before the Angels scored six times against three Rangers relievers.

The Angels had a three-game winning streak snapped.

Kason Gabbard (1-0) threw seven shutout innings for the Rangers, allowing seven hits and striking out four.

The loss went to Dustin Moseley (0-1), who surrendered five runs on six hits in five innings.

Milton Bradley singled with one away in the Texas fourth, David Murphy drew a walk and Moseley hit Marlon Byrd with a pitch to load the bases.

Broussard then smashed a 1-1 offering deep into the seats in right field.

Texas added five runs in the eighth with Ian Kinsler and Josh Hamilton both delivering two-run doubles.

After Howie Kendrick drove in two runs with a triple in the bottom of the ninth for the Angels, Erick Aybar drove in one with a ground out and Gary Matthews Jr. drove in another with a double. Reggie Willits capped the scoring with a two-run double for the Angels.
