ATLANTA, April 4 (UPI) -- Xavier Nady singled in Nyjer Morgan with two out in the 10th inning Thursday, giving the Pittsburgh Pirates a wild 4-3 win over Atlanta.

Mike Hampton, who was scheduled to make his first start for Atlanta in almost two years, never got in the game because of a pulled muscle he suffered while warming up in the bullpen.

The Braves used seven relievers during the game and one of them -- Chris Resop -- had two stints on the mound.

Resop entered the game in the 10th inning, during which the Pirates put a runner on third with one out. Manager Bobby Cox then brought Royce Ring in to pitch, but kept Resop in the game by sending him to left field.

After Ring struck out Adam LaRoche, Resop (0-1) was brought back to pitch. He promptly gave up Nady's game-winning single.

Pittsburgh's Matt Capps allowed a two-out triple to Mark Kotsay in the bottom of the 10th, but then got Brian McCann to ground out to end the game.

Tyler Yates (1-0), who worked the ninth inning, got the win.
