The report added Trine Skei Grande, the vice president of the Liberal Party of Norway, also said a boycott could be necessary if the situation in China doesn't improve.

Norway's royal family reportedly now plan to attend the opening ceremonies on Aug. 8. Earlier reports said family members had no plans to attend.

Gerhard Heiberg, Norway's representative on the International Olympics Committee, is set to visit China Monday and said he hoped to get a better idea of the situation there before making any conclusions.

"The Games are being drawn into issues that do not necessarily have a link with the operation of the Games," IOC Coordination Commission Chairman Hein Verbruggen told Aftenposten.
