Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

CHICAGO, April 3 (UPI) -- A goal and two assists from Patrick Kane Wednesday helped Chicago keep its playoff hopes alive with a 6-2 beating of Detroit.
With their third straight win, the Blackhawks moved into 10th place in the Western Conference. They are three points behind Nashville in the fight for the conference's final playoff berth.
Jordan Hendry scored his first NHL goal for Chicago, which has two games remaining -- home against Nashville and at Detroit.
Detroit missed a chance to clinch the Western Conference title. The Red Wings remained atop the West by three points over San Jose. Both teams have two games to play.
After allowing three goals on six shots, Dominik Hasek was removed in favor of Chris Osgood.
