Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24
SALT LAKE CITY, April 3 (UPI) -- Mehmet Okur scored 22 points Wednesday and Utah pulled away in the third quarter to overwhelm Minnesota 117-100.
The Jazz reached the 50-win mark for the second straight year.
Deron Williams added 19 points and 14 assists for Utah, winners of five out of six. Utah moved 3 1/2 games in front of idle Denver in the race for the Northwest Division title. The Jazz made 12 of 22 shots from three-point range to dominate the late stages of the game.
Minnesota, which has lost four out of five, was led by Marko Jaric with 18 points.
Utah went on a 15-4 run in the third period, opening an 85-65 lead with 2 1/2 minutes left in the quarter.
