NEW YORK, April 2 (UPI) -- Gary Forbes scored 19 points and Dante Milligan scored 17 with 12 rebounds Tuesday in Massachusetts' 78-66 win over Florida in the NIT semifinals in New York.
The Minutemen (25-10), who also got 16 points apiece from Ricky Harris and Chris Lowe, advance to the championship game at Madison Square Garden Thursday night against Ohio State.
The Gators (24-12) got 16 points and 18 rebounds from Marreese Speights, and 11 points and 10 rebounds from Dan Werner. Nick Calathes chipped in 12 points for the Gators, who had won the NCAA Tournament the past two seasons.
Massachusetts was cold in the first half, shooting just 32.4 percent from the field and missing 12 of 13 three-point shots. But the Minutemen turned it around in the second period, holding the Gators to 38.2 shooting from the floor. The Gators missed all six of their three-point tries in the second half and missed nine of 13 free throws.
