ANAHEIM, Calif., March 31 (UPI) -- Chris Kunitz scored on a backhand shot in a shootout to lift the Anaheim Ducks to a 3-2 victory over the Dallas Stars Sunday.

Kunitz switched from an apparent forehand shot to a backhander that got into the net over goalie Marty Turco, who had fallen to the ice.

The Stars' Jere Lehtinen had a chance to extend the shootout but his shot was blocked by Jean-Sebastian Giguere.

Mathieu Schneider had two goals for the Ducks and Giguere finished with 23 saves.

Mike Modano and Niklas Hagman scored for the Stars, who have lost six of their last seven games. Turco recorded 30 saves.
