Mets coach named in franchise suit

NEW YORK, March 31 (UPI) -- A New York man and his son charge they lost more than $600,000 investing in a failed baseball clinic franchise pitched by Mets coach Rick Peterson.

The attorney for Aaron and Evan Luwisch says the two men decided to buy a franchise from the Frozen Ropes Baseball Co. after meeting Peterson at a convention sponsored by the company, The New York Post reported Monday.

"To them, him being a professional baseball coach was important in their decision to buy a franchise," says Michael Einbinder, the Luwisches' lawyer.

The father and son have filed suit against Frozen Ropes in Staten Island Supreme Court charging its chief executive, Tony Abbatine, promised them millions in annual revenue.

The suit also says Peterson told them at the Frozen Ropes convention he would make an appearance at a discounted rate.
