CALGARY, Alberta, March 30 (UPI) -- Dustin Penner scored the game-winner Saturday night when the Edmonton Oilers beat Calgary 2-1.
Penner's 23rd goal this season came on the power play midway through the third period.
The game was scoreless in the first and second. Calgary took a 1-0 lead on Matthew Lombardi's 13th goal this season, and then Denis Grebeshkov's third goal tied it at 1-1, setting up Penner's game winner.
Dwayne Roloson stopped 31 of 32 shots for the Oilers, who forged a three-way tie with Nashville and Vancouver for the eighth playoff spot in the Western Conference playoff chase.
Miikka Kiprusoff gave up both Edmonton goals on 21 shots for the Flames, who remained tied with idle Colorado for the sixth seed in the West, two points behind Dallas.
They trail Minnesota by three points for first place in the Northwest Division.
