HOUSTON, March 30 (UPI) -- Chris Douglas-Roberts' 25 points in the NCAA South Region final Sunday helped Memphis roll past Texas 85-67 and into the Final Four.
Playing before a crowd of 32,798 at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Memphis led 39-28 at halftime. Texas closed to 39-34 with 18:18 left, but an 18-4 spurt gave the winners a 57-38 lead with 10:07 to play and Texas was done.
Derrick Rose scored 21 points with nine assists in the victory that sent the Tigers to next weekend's Final Four in San Antonio. Shawn Taggart scored 12, and Joey Dorsey added 11 points and 12 rebounds for the top-seeded Tigers (37-1), who have won 11 straight since their only loss -- 66-62 against Tennessee Feb. 23.
Texas got 17 points and five rebounds from A.J. Abrams. D.J. Augustin, the only other Texas player in double digits, scored 16 points with three assists and two rebounds for the second-seeded Longhorns, whose season ended with a 31-7 record.
