Davenport a second-round winner in Miami

MIAMI, March 29 (UPI) -- Former world No. 1 American Lindsay Davenport was a second-round winner Saturday at the $3.77 million Sony Ericsson Open in Miami.

A three-time major titlist, Davenport defeated France's Camille Pin 6-2, 6-1.

Fifth-seeded Russian Anna Chakvetadze beat Austrian Tamira Paszek 6-3, 6-2; seventh-seeded Slovakian Daniela Hantuchova beat Venezuelan Milagros Sequera 6-2, 6-1; and 10th-seeded Russian Elena Dementieva, a two-time Grand Slam runner-up, beat Ukrainian Kateryna Bondarenko 6-0, 6-4.

In an upset, Russian Alisa Kleybanova defeated 12th-seeded Czech Nicole Vaidisova 6-4, 6-0. Vaidisova has dropped three straight and four of her last five matches.
