ANAHEIM, Calif., March 27 (UPI) -- Mathieu Schneider scored the winning goal in the sixth round of a shootout Wednesday, handing Anaheim a 2-1 victory over Los Angeles.

The Ducks extended their franchise-record home winning streak to 10 games and in so doing clinched a playoff spot.

Bobby Ryan scored the only goal in regulation for Anaheim and Jonas Hiller, making his third straight start in place of Jean-Sebastien Giguere, made 31 saves. Giguere missed the contest with back spasms.

Teemu Selanne kept Anaheim alive by scoring in the shootout's third round and there were no further goals until Schneider was able to beat Erik Ersberg.

Anaheim climbed within four points of Pacific Division-leading San Jose and the Ducks are in fourth place in the Western Conference.

Los Angeles had won its previous two games.
