Tommie Harris' wife dies

BLACKSBURG, Va., March 25 (UPI) -- The Virginia Tech Hokies, led by A.D. Vassallo's 18 points, ripped Alabama-Birmingham 75-49 Monday in the second round of the NIT.
Joining Vassallo in double figures were Malcolm Delaney with 17 and Deron Washington with 16 as Virginia tech improved to 21-13. The Hokies' next opponent will be Ole Miss in the quarterfinals Wednesday.
Reggie Huffman led the fifth-seeded Blazers (23-11) with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
