Ogilvy leads; Tiger's streak in jeopardy

MIAMI, March 23 (UPI) -- The WGC-CA Championship was halted by darkness in the final round Sunday with Geoff Ogilvy leading by two shots and Tiger Woods's win streak in jeopardy.

The event was headed for a Monday finish on the Blue Monster course at the Doral Resort in Florida.

Ogilvy was 17-under-par halfway through the final 18 holes. Vijay Singh and Jim Furyk were the closest challengers at 15-under. Woods, who has won five straight PGA events, was five shots back, tied for eighth, through 11 holes.

Rain and lightning delays plagued the tournament through the weekend. A stoppage in the final round lasted nearly three hours, delaying play until the horn sounded to end play because of darkness.

"It's a bit fatiguing going out, warming up, getting in the van, driving all the way out, coming all the way back, coming in, sitting around," Ogilvy said.

Along with his five straight wins on the tour, dating back to last fall, Woods has won seven in a row overall, including the Dubai Desert Classic and the unofficial Target World Challenge.

Olympic flame to be lit in Olympia

AMALIADA, Greece, March 23 (UPI) -- The lighting of the Olympic flame will take place Monday in the Greek sanctuary of Olympia, the International Olympic Committee announced Sunday.

The Olympic committee also said efforts are under way to ensure the upcoming Beijing Olympic Games will be the best event possible.

While human rights groups and non-government organizations have attempted to convince IOC officials to use the Olympics to promote change in China, the committee remains steadfast against such political agendas.

"The IOC respects NGOs (non-government organizations) and activist groups and their causes, and speaks regularly with them -- but we are neither a political nor an activist organization," the committee said.

Instead, IOC officials have offered hope the continuing social conflict in Tibet comes to a peaceful end, saying violence is contrary to the ideals of the Olympic Games.

Raikkonen wins Malaysian Grand Prix

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, March 23 (UPI) -- Kimi Raikkonen won Sunday's Formula One Malaysian Grand Prix in Kuala Lumpur, finishing nearly 20 seconds ahead of Robert Kubica.

The victory on the 3.4-mile Sepang Circuit was the first this season and 16th of the Finnish driver's F1 career.

It possibly erased memories of his eighth-place finish in last Sunday's season-opening race, the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.

Raikkonen took the lead from pole-sitter and teammate Felipe Massa after their first pit stops, and then went the distance to a victory that vaulted him back into contention for a second straight F1 points title.

"Once (Massa) went into the pits my car got much better because when you are one or two seconds behind it is a massive difference," Raikkonen said. "I was able to go much quicker on my in-lap and I could pass him. After that I was able to pull away."

Kubica drove a BMW Sauber and Heikki Kovlainen, driving a McLaren, finished third.

Milwaukee pitcher may need elbow surgery

MILWAUKEE, March 23 (UPI) -- A torn left-elbow ligament might sideline Milwaukee Brewers starter Chris Capuano for the 2008 season.

The team said on its Web site Sunday that the 29-year-old left-hander faces possibly the second "Tommy John" elbow surgery of his five-year major league career.

He suffered the same injury in 2002 which led to a similar procedure and an 11-month rehabilitation period.

Dr. William Raasch, the Brewers' team physician, made the diagnosis. Brewers' officials said they will wait until Capuano is re-evaluated this week before finalizing a decision on his status.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported that Capuano will seek a third opinion from orthopedic surgeon, Dr. James Andrews, before making a decision about surgery.

"It's very daunting to think about going through rehab again," the Duke graduate told the newspaper. "It's difficult to think about going through that again."

Capuano went through a dismal second half in the 2007 season, losing his last 12 decisions after a 5-0 start.
