Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

LITTLE ROCK, Ark., March 23 (UPI) -- A.J. Abrams scored 26 points for Texas, which held off Miami (Fla.) 75-72 Sunday, advancing to the NCAA Sweet 16 for the fifth time in seven seasons.
The Longhorns almost blew a 17-point lead before escaping with the second-round victory in the South Regional at Little Rock, Ark.
Abrams hit a pair of free throws with 9.5 seconds to play to put Texas up by five. Raymond Hicks then hit a three-pointer for Miami before Texas' D.J. Augustin ended the scoring with a free throw.
Connor Atchley added 15 points and Augustin 12 for the Longhorns (30-6), who will next play Stanford.
Jack McClinton led Miami (23-11) with 18 points.
