SANTO DE SERRA, Portugal, March 21 (UPI) -- Hennie Otto turned in a second consecutive 5-under-par 67 Friday for the clubhouse lead after two days of the Madeira Islands Open golf tournament in Portugal.
Otto's score was more impressive considering the stiff winds the golfers fought through the day. Tournament officials halted play for 2 1/2 hours because of high winds. Play was suspended because of darkness with 72 golfers still on their second rounds.
Otto's 36-hole total of 10-under 134 is six strokes better than Sven Struver, who still needs to play half of his second round, and Fredrick Widmark, who only got six holes in Friday.
Adilson Da Silva shot a 4-under 68 and is at 5-under 139 after two complete rounds.
Otto had a strong round, given the conditions, with an eagle, four birdies and a bogey to go with 12 pars. He nearly drove the 395-yard 10th hole but was able to chip in from about 10 yards off the green for an eagle 2.
