EDMONTON, Alberta, March 21 (UPI) -- Roberto Luongo stopped 33 of 34 shots Thursday in carrying the Vancouver Canucks to a 4-1 decision over Edmonton.

Edmonton was cooled off in its bid to earn a playoff berth. The Oilers had won three straight and 10 of their last 12 to get back in the chase, but they remain five points out of the final post-season spot in the Western Conference.

Vancouver is tied with Calgary at 86 points, one behind Minnesota for the lead in the Northwest Division. The Canucks won their third straight.

Daniel Sedin and Matt Pettinger scored second-period goals to give the Canucks a 2-0 lead and Vancouver got scores from Taylor Pyatt and Trevor Linden in the third period.

Dwayne Roloson allowed all four goals on 21 shots.
