COL BKB: West. Ky. 101, Drake 99 (OT)

TAMPA, Fla., March 21 (UPI) -- Ty Rogers' three-pointer with no time left in overtime Friday gave Western Kentucky a first-round 101-99 NCAA Tournament win over Drake.

The clock was winding down to zero when the 6-foot-3 senior launched his game-winner after a pass from Tyrone Brazelton.

The contest, played at the St. Petersburg Times Forum in Tampa, Fla., as part of the West Region, went to OT because Drake overcame a 66-50 deficit in the final 12 minutes of regulation to create an 88-88 tie.

Rogers' trey with 11:58 left in regulation gave the winners the 16-point advantage.

Brazelton led the 12th-seeded Hilltoppers with 33 points, five rebounds and five assists. Courtney Lee added 15 points with nine rebounds, while Rogers scored 11 and A.J. Slaughter added 10 points, four assists and four rebounds.

Jonathan Cox led the 5th-seeded Bulldogs (28-5) with 29 points and 16 rebounds and his free throw gave Drake a 99-98 lead.

Josh Young scored 18 points, Leonard Houston 17 and Adam Emmenecker 11.
