COL BKB: San Diego 70, UConn 69 (OT)

TAMPA, Fla., March 21 (UPI) -- De'Jon Jackson's jumper with two seconds left in overtime Friday gave San Diego a 70-69 win over Connecticut in a first round NCAA Tournament contest.

The game, played at the Saint Petersburg Times Forum in Tampa, was part of the West Region.

USD built a 34-29 halftime lead. Connecticut point guard A.J. Price suffered a knee injury midway through the first half and did not return.

The lead grew to 40-29 with 18:09 left, but regulation ended in a 60-60 tie.

Gyno Pomare led the winners with 22 points and four rebounds. Brandon Johnson scored 18 with five rebounds and four assists.

Rob Jones had 14 points and six rebounds, while Jackson scored just four for the 13th-seeded Toreros (22-13), who face Western Kentucky Sunday.

UConn got 18 points and 13 rebounds from Jeff Adrien. Both Jerome Dyson and Hasheem Thabeet scored 14 and Thabeet blocked four shots for the fourth-seeded Huskies, whose season ended at 24-9.
