CHICAGO, March 20 (UPI) -- The U.S. men's soccer team has added a match with England to its schedule ahead of World Cup qualifying this summer.

The May 28 match in London will mark the first time the Americans have played a friendly with the English since 1994.

It comes between two other European matches for the U.S. team, which previously announced contests next Wednesday in Krakow, Poland, against the Polish national team and a June 4 game in Santander, Spain, against the Spanish team.

"We have consistently said that one of our goals is to play matches against good opponents and in environments that will really challenge our team," U.S. Coach Bob Bradley said. "In addition to the quality of the English team, the tradition and passion for the sport in that country, the media focus, and the intensity of the fans all combine to make this a fantastic opportunity for our group. We are very pleased with the schedule we have put together to help us prepare for World Cup qualifying."

The United States opens World Cup qualifying June 15 with a match against either Barbados or Dominica at Carson, Calif.
