WEXFORD, Pa., March 20 (UPI) -- Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Cedrick Wilson faces criminal charges after allegedly assaulting an ex-girlfriend in a Wexford, Pa., restaurant, police said.

Lindsay Paulat told authorities Wilson entered the Patron Mexican Grill while she was out with her boyfriend and whipped her around by her shoulder so he could hit her in the face with a closed fist, the criminal complaint said. She said Wilson fled after the incident, WPXI-TV, Pittsburgh reported.

Wilson reportedly was later seen by police as he was driving away from his Pine Township home. Police stopped his vehicle and arrested him, the report said.

Wilson faces charges of simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct, WPXI reported.
