NHL: Chicago 5, Washington 0

CHICAGO, March 20 (UPI) -- Nikolai Khabibulin made 25 saves Wednesday to put together his second shutout of the season in Chicago's 5-0 blanking of Washington.

Jason Williams had a goal and an assist, and Chicago also got goals from Jonathan Toews, Yanic Perreault, Patrick Sharp and Rene Bourque.

Khabibulin protected the shutout by making 11 saves in the final period.

Chicago peppered Olaf Kolzig with 42 shots to halt the Capitals four-game winning streak. Washington fell five points behind division-leading Carolina and also trails Philadelphia by two points in the battle for the Eastern Conference's final playoff spot.
