
DENVER, March 20 (UPI) -- Levance Field scored 23 points Thursday to lead Pittsburgh past Oral Roberts 82-63 in a first round NCAA Tournament contest in Denver.
The contest was played at the Pepsi Center as part of the South Region.
Pitt trailed 13-10 with12:03 left in the first half when ORU's Robert Jarvis drilled a three-pointer. Fields answered with a trey and Pitt went on to build 47-24 advantage at the break.
ORU did not threaten in the final 20 minutes.
Sam Young scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds. Gilbert Brown and Keith Benjamin scored 12 points apiece and Ronald Ramon scored 10 for the fourth-seeded Panthers (27-9), who won the Big East Tournament Saturday by beating eighth-ranked Georgetown.
Robert Jarvis led Oral Roberts with 16 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Andre Hardy scored 15 with nine rebounds. Moses Ehambe had 13 points and four rebounds while Shawn King added 10 points for the 13th-seeded Golden Eagles, who finished 24-9.
