Ivanovic rebounds for win

INDIAN WELLS, Calif., March 19 (UPI) -- Top-seed Ana Ivanovic dropped her first set against 13th-seed Francesca Schiavone Tuesday before rallying for a fourth-round win in the Pacific Life Open.

After Schiavone took the first set 6-2, the Serbian battled back for a 7-5 win in the middle set and then finished of the Italian 6-2 in the deciding set.

Meanwhile, second-seed Svetlana Kuznetsova had little trouble with unseeded Caroline Wozniacki, defeating her 6-2, 6-3, while third-seed Jelena Jankovic dispatched 20th-seed Anabel Medina Garigues 6-3, 6-3, and fourth-seed Maria Sharapova downed 15th-seed Alona Bondarenko 6-1, 7-6 (7-4).

In other fourth-round matches of the $2.1 million tourney at Indian Wells, Calif., No. 5 seed Daniela Hantuchova def. No. 21 Sania Mirza 6-1, 7-6 (7-4); No. 24 Lindsay Davenport defeated No. 6 Marion Bartoli 6-2, 7-5; No. 10 Agnieszka Radwanska defeated Ashley Harkleroad 4-6, 6-2, 6-4; and No. 12 Vera Zvonareva defeated Casey Dellacqua, 6-7 (5-7), 6-0, 6-4.
