COL BKB: Old Dominion 68, Rider 65

NORFOLK, Va., March 19 (UPI) -- Old Dominion rode Frank Hassell's 14 points and nine rebounds Tuesday to a 68-65 win over Rider in the first round of the College Basketball Invitational.

Brandon Johnson added 10 points, seven rebounds and six assists for Old Dominion (18-15).

Ryan Thompson had 24 points and eight rebounds, and Jason Thompson 15 points and 17 rebounds for Rider (23-11).

Old Dominion advanced to the quarterfinals and will play Virginia Monday.
