Tournament MVP Sam Young had 16 points for the Panthers (26-9), who were playing in their seventh Big East title game in the last eight years. They won their only other tournament title in 2003. DeJuan Blair had 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Seventh-seeded Pitt became the second team to win the Big East Tournament by winning four games in four days. Syracuse accomplished the feat as the ninth seed in 2006, besting Pitt in the final.
Roy Hibbert had 17 points for top-seeded Georgetown (27-5), which beat the Panthers, 65-42, in last year's championship game.
