SAN JOSE, Calif., March 15 (UPI) -- Milan Michalek touched off a four-goal first period by scoring just 70 seconds into the game Friday and San Jose cruised to a 4-1 win over St. Louis.

The streaking Sharks won their franchise-record 11th straight game and St. Louis lost its fifth in a row.

After losing five straight, San Jose has run off an amazing streak that has lifted the Sharks past Dallas into first place in the Pacific Division.

Jeremy Roenick, Brian Campbell and Patrick Marleau added goals in the opening stanza and Evegeni Nabokov had to make just 20 saves. Marleau's goal came on a penalty shot that got the best of Hannu Toivonen.
