DENVER, March 14 (UPI) -- Tyler Arnason and David Jones both scored on the power play during a four-goal second period Thursday, leading Colorado to a 5-1 victory over Edmonton.

Colorado won its fifth straight home game and moved two points in front of Calgary for the lead in the Northeast Division.

Peter Budaj made 23 saves to get the win.

Jeff Finger gave the Avalanche the lead with the only goal of the first period, coming with just 68 seconds left in the stanza. Colorado then put the game away in the second with Jaroslav Hlinka and Wojtek Wolski also recording goals.

The lone Edmonton score came from Sam Gagner midway through the second. The Oilers had won their previous three games, all in overtime.
